So, you have everything planned, your boss is a nice guy (or you seduced him) and your next vacations will be in Europe, you are going to stay there for more than a week. You heard the best way to travel there is by rail but you wonder which are the best and cheap train tickets in Europe for you to enjoy the most. Good, that means you are in the right article at least.

When it comes to travel to Europe, and depending on the places you are looking to visit, a rail ticket is highly recommended. I would encourage you to do that for trip in most of Central Europe, specially for France, Austria, Switzerland, and Eastern Europe. For the UK it would be also useful and probably the only two places where it does not work the best is in Southern Europe and in Scandinavia, basically because you’ve got sea in the middle and train, at least until the day of writing, can’t swim.

Finding Ticket Deals

To find these cheap train tickets in Europe, the best you can do it to look at the official page for Eurail. This guys coordinate the rail passes for people who comes from outside Europe. If you are European, take a look at Interrail and, at least at today’s date of writing, check places that sell them in the UK, as the pound has fallen terribly during the last months and you can get great bargains when changing to your currency.
In most cases a ticket like this will be very useful and economically practical. Still, there are some thing to consider when looking for cheap train tickets in Europe. One of them is that if you are traveling by train very few, and this means less than 3 times inside a single country or 6 times on a European basis, you will not get any benefits from it. Provided that Europe is leader globally when it comes to low cost flights, a long trip with train will only be time consuming and will give no benefits in return.

In any case, and if you are planning to be on a route through Austria or Switzerland, probably a long ride will offer sightseeing opportunities that will pay many times for the price you have payed and the extra time you have spent with it. In the case you love to travel by train, then it will be the adequate decision to get one of these cheap train tickets in Europe

Plan in Advance

Finally, when planning for your budget for your cheap train tickets in Europe you must consider the different economical regions that exist there. Scandinavia is the most expensive part, including Denmark. Switzerland and Austria are also pretty expensive, but not as much normally. Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands are at the following economical level. Then you’ll find Portugal, Spain, Italy and Greece and finally the place where train prices will be lower is in Eastern Europe.

Book in Advance

As with most forms of travel booking the best price you can get for an airline ticket is to book it as far in advance as possible. So, as soon as you know when you want to travel get online and start hunting out the best deal for your journey.

Online Bookings

The best way to compare different rates is, as is so often the case, to make your travel arrangements online. Shop around for all the options and consider using airports that are perhaps a little harder to get to as a budget airline 50 miles further away might offer a saving on the ticket price that’s worth making the extra effort to drive that bit further to the airport.

Flexibility in your travel times can also save you money. Often just changing the time of your flight on the same day can have a significant impact on the price you’re quoted so try and move things around a little. Whenever possible choose early morning or late evening flights if you can as they’re very often the cheapest times to travel

Indirect Trips

Also consider indirect tickets. If you’ve got time on your hands and don’t mind the extra waiting around for connecting trains you can often get some good savings by taking a more circuitous route to your final destination. You might spend longer but you could end up with more money staying in your pocket!

Package Travel or Holidays

Another option to consider is whether you can package together various elements of your travel arrangements. Some airlines have advantageous partnerships with hotels and car rental companies so a package deal could be for you if you’re looking at booking the extra services they’re offering anyway.

In some circumstances packaging like this can be cheaper overall, even if the flight itself is more expensive, as some airlines have very attractive partner deals.

Finally

Finally, it really is worth shopping around with tickets and doing the extra research to ensure that you get the cheapest possible trip as the savings that can be made are a lot more than you might expect.

So, do your homework, save yourself some money, and have a great flight. You can book many of these trips directly or scout around for offers, leading travel web sites such as expedia will let you tailor make your travel package.

Free music festivals, especially good free music festivals, are few and far between. Often you’ll find that either the venues are bad, the bands are bad, the location is bad or some combination of those three are bad.

Lynton and Lynmouth Music Festival, or Llama, bucks this trend, being a not-for-profit festival that is spread throughout two gorgeous towns situated in Exmoor National Park.

For a start, the views and scenery of the entire area are wonderful: forested hills that run down and swiftly become cliffs that then drop into the ocean. The towns themselves nestle in this area well, their architecture and atmosphere being exactly what you’d expect to find in an area like this.

Lynmouth plays host to the main stage, which is set up right by the water front. This means the audience face not just the bands, but the Bristol Channel. The town itself is worth exploring, but as the evening draws in, most festival-goers will move up to Lynton, either taking a steep, uphill walk, or by catching a lift on the water powered cliff railway, one of Lynton and Lynmouth’s other main attractions.

Once at the top, the music moves into the various pubs, though some set up outdoor areas for performance and expose the streets to the performers. Every pub will have a different style of music being performed, and one pub might see a variety of different styles through the night. Just wandering through the town means being exposed to sound from every direction; it is totally unavoidable.

Of course, the businesses in Lynton know that people are going to be up and about much later than normal, so lots of places will take advantage of that fact. At the pub I remained in for most of the night, there was a fish and chip shop open right up until I left, and I didn’t see it without a queue once.

As there are plenty of indoor performance, weather is less of an issue to the festival too, and it is well known enough that people and bands from all over the country are assured to turn up regardless. The locals are friendly enough to the newcomers, and you can be guaranteed of having a few extra friends for the evening.

Overall, a good festival, and free to boot.

If you have decided to spend your vacation in Lisbon Portugal then you have made the right choice. Whether you’re here on a one week all inclusive vacation package, or just for a couple of nights, you (and your family) won’t regret your decision. With the mix of old and new Lisbon will appeal to all generations. Below we have compiled a list of the top five reasons to travel to Lisbon.

1) Climate: Lisbon enjoys a pleasant Meditternean climate, giving it one of the mildest climates in Europe.Summers are typically warm and dry, while winters are rainy and cool.

2) Night Life: Lisbon is gaining reputation as one of Europe’s trendiest cities. Brits, Spaniards and Italians flock here to soak up its rich nightlife. The city caters to all offering everything from jazz to hip hop to electronica. The major concert venues are situated at Coliseu dos Recreios and the Atlantic Pavillion.

3) History: Also known as the city of the seven hills, Lisbon has over 20 centuries of history to its name. With its strong cultural heritage and beautiful architecture displayed throughout the city, makes it a perfect choice for your travel plans.

4) Attractions:Be sure to catch the works of Tiepolo or Brugeghel at the Medeiros E Almeida Museum. Or soak in all the rare and exotic vegetation at Tropical Gardens. For a real treat you’ll want to head down to Rossio Square to the Sao Carlos Theater. And last but certainly not least we have to mention the aquaducts. Best of all it’s FREE!

5) Said to have come from the songs of the Moors, Fado is a well known symbol of Portugal. They are many in the Bairro Alto district, but the best ones are found as you stroll throughout the cobbled streets of Alfama. Be sure to visit Taverna de Embucado for a treat you will never forget. One will usually have to pay a cover charge of around 20 euros, which when added to dinner should run you about 70 euros total. Pretty good for a night out on the town.

Last Friday I took my autistic son on a daytrip to watch the annual air display at Lowestoft. When we arrived the sun was shining and you couldn’t look up at the planes because the sun was so bright.

However, in true British tradition, that didn’t last long.

We watched the Red Arrows perform their incredible display with red, white and blue smoke, saw a helicopter performing aerobatics, and covered our ears as an F16 flew over a few times before the first heavy shower fell.

It was short and sharp but because there were so many people at the display, despite almost everyone having umbrellas, we all got wet.

Why?

Because everyone was so close together and the rain fell so heavily, it just gushed off the umbrellas like water running down a drainpipe. My son is taller than I am so the water from his umbrella ran straight into my ear until I managed to get him to move slightly!

Anyway, the sun came out again and the display continued. We saw guys parachuting out of a helicopter onto the beach below, a procession of powerboats bouncing around in the waves, and several other different aircraft, before suddenly the crowds of people began to disperse like rats leaving a sinking ship.

Turning round it wasn’t hard to see why. I have never in my life seen a sky like it – at least not in real life. I quite expected an alien space ship to land any minute. A darkness came over the whole area, thunder crashed, lightening struck and the rain fell down vertically so it was no good trying to stand next to a wall to shelter.

The day ended with us being cold, wet and bedraggled, but we were very lucky as we were there just for the day.

I felt really sorry for the people who were on holiday, especially those looking for cheap family holidays and were camping. It must have been awful. We’ve all heard of the great British spirit, stiff upper lip and all that, so most people just get on with it and make the best of things.

However, for many people the summer holiday is all they have to look forward to each year and the weather can make or break it. Some people wait and take last minute holidays. This year the Met Office long range forecast was for a bar-b-que summer and I’m sure local businesses were rubbing their hands in glee. However, so far it’s turned into a damp squib.

I love UK and there are some beautiful places to visit. Apparently this year, two out of three families are choosing to have a stacation in UK instead of having a vacation “abroad”, and many caravan and camping sites are fully booked.

It seems fears about Swine Flu and the exchange rate have put many people off travelling, so the last minute cheap package holiday deals are suffering. Too many people have bad memories of horrendous accommodation, which in reality looked nothing like it did in the glossy brochures, so they’ve decided unless you can be guaranteed quality 4 star holidays as a cheap package, then it’s just not worth the risk.

That’s great news for the local tourist industry. They have a short season and rely on the summer holiday industry. However, we all know UK doesn’t have the best amusements and facilities, and if the weather is bad, going out for the day can be a pretty expensive affair, especially if you have several children.

Most kids like to swim, but on our regional news yesterday some parents were understandably complaining because two local swimming pools had been closed for essential repairs. This meant their children had no-where to go during the long summer holidays. The councils said they understood the concern, but didn’t want to disrupt school swimming lessons during term time.

Not a good idea!

Anyway, as I said, I love UK, but there’s a whole big world out there and sometimes it’s just as cheap to travel abroad as it is to stay here. If you know where to look you can get incredibly affordable luxury accommodation at prime resorts all over the world for little more, and sometimes less, than you’d pay to stay at home.

Whilst the travel costs may be more expensive to go “abroad”, often the savings on food and entertainment, combined with the weather conditions you actually want and expect, can often make up for it,. I suspect this year there are more than a few people who’ve regretted listening to the “bar-b-que” summer forecast!

The volcanic activity in this region definitely has done its job right where Ischia is concerned. Natural beauty, the most pristine aqua sea, the stunning beaches, and abundance of thermal spas bubbling forth make it not only a lovely, but sublimely attractive tourist destination.

An island less than one hour from Napoli, Ischia is amazingly well connected to the mainland, making it a perfect daytrip, or an even more ideal place to daytrip from. Nicer than Napoli itself, less touristy than Sorrento and Capri perhaps, but VERY multi-national and absolutely teeming with life, Ischia is an island that’s up and coming, and definitely holds its own as a Mediterranean hot spot.

Home of late night parties, dusk til dawn entertainment, and club scenes comparable to Ibiza and Amsterdam, Ischia is a magnet for the young, beautiful, rich, famous, energetic, and all around party animals. The bars are numerous, have wonderfully varied menus and the exquisite cuisine is not only an in between pick-me-up, but one of the most important perks of being in Italy.

The local “D.O.C” (stands for having been checked by the government for taste and quality, and though this is more of a wine thing, it has been used in places in other senses) mozzarella is absolutely the most delicious, creamiest taste to ever enter a cheese lover’s mouth. After tasting this, it’s hard to live up to.

Cuisine lovers will be happy all over Italy of course, but even more so in Ischia Ponte. Like the rest of the island full of absolutely exquisite beaches, but here the prices are somewhat lower and some of the most amazing local cuisine can be found; at an economic rate. Sciu

First up, a warning. If you order Chinese wine, it will probably be pretty awful. Harsh vinegar like you wouldn’t believe, in fact. The best domestic wines they have, if you’re lucky enough to choose a good one, are about level with an own-brand supermarket wine back home. One called ‘Enduring Pulchritude’ (that’s ‘beauty’, thesaurus fans) should really be called ‘Enduring Fortitude’, and not because it’s well aged!

The good news, however, is that here and there you’ll find a smattering of foreign wines that, for the most part, are really quite drinkable. But most locals here in Lishui City, east China seem not to know what to do with them – they obviously never order them themselves for a start, as many a dusty shelf can attest. Furthermore, if you do order one in one of several comfy but slightly off Western-style cafe bars in the city, you might end up with something quite unexpected.

It may be served in a huge duck-shaped decanter, and has been known to come with brandy glasses! Funnier still was the second time we ordered this particular wine – quite nice, really, and a great deal in Western terms to drink out for $15 – when it arrived with a small bucket of ice for us to dip into our drinks!

As for pub drinking there’s not a lot going on mostly due to our location in a developing city and the fact that the Chinese style is more to have drinks over dinner. So we really got a treat the other week when by chance we came upon Lishui’s first place with beers on tap, the Yes Bar. Tiger and Carlsberg, to be precise. And unlike the cafe bars above, it has a real wooden bar and the pleasing look and feel of a classy jazz club.

Imagine our surprise, moreover, on learning first that it had only been open for the previous two days – we don’t miss a trick ’round here – and then that it even sold cans of Guinness!

The actual night time atmosphere of this place isn’t great, sadly. It’s all flashing lights and bad Chinese music, leaving the deck chairs outside as the only good spot. And like many other outlets of various kinds in Lishui, some of the staff just don’t know how to handle us laowai, or foreigners.

One of the first times we went, Megan decided to order us two pints of Carlsberg. In what I can only assume was her usual flawless Mandarin, she asked the girl for two pints of beer, referring in addition to ‘the green one’ and pointing to the tap. Several minutes later, we weren’t even looking at what was on the table when suddenly two lime flavored Bacardi Breezers arrived. We just had to hold up our hands and laugh!

Until next time, dear readers, remember to be thankful for life’s simple pleasures and the privilege of ready access to them!

More travelers love to go to Perhentian kecil for the cheaper facilities costs instead of Perhentian Besar which offers more expenses to be spent on the facilities and services provided. However, most families who on holiday with their children more prefer to spend their vacation here.

Perhentian Islands are definitely a perfect holiday destinations for you too. This is due to the fact that this islands are located far away from main centre of Terengganu, compared to Redang Island and Kapas Island. Besides, it is more cloistered with bunches of tropical jungles. This is also one of the reason why Perhentian Islands are less crowded and get less publicity or being commercialized.

The islands are located approximately 21 kilometers away from Terengganu and can only be reached by riding special boat services from Kuala Besut harbor. From Terengganu, you need to take a cab or bus which will take more or less one or one a half hours to reach there, before you take another 30 to 45 minute by boat to arrive here.

Tips for you: The most unforgettable beautiful moment for enjoying your vacation days in Perhentian Island is when you hear the sea waving like buzzing bees’ sounds. At this moment, you could really feel the freshness of the air and the bountifully beauty of the white sandy beaches.

Yet, you should reconsider your schedule before make a visit to Perhentian Island because of the northeast monsoon which usually occurs between November and February. In most islands in the eastern coast of Malaysia, almost every accommodation and services are strictly limited in this period of time, hence, it is advisable for you for not visit.
